  1. Hey there, Tracey!

(It’s Dave’s wife– I know there’s more than a few Hendersons!) I read your Now I Can update and meeting announcement just this morning. What an AMAZING project you guys have tackled. I’m humbled and impressed. We may have told you we own/produce an annual event called the Utah Chocolate Show in Sandy every November. It’s an event with vendors and classes and demonstrations and special features (like a chocolate sculpture gallery, some pieces by world-class chefs, that will be auctioned for charity the last night of the show). This is our third year now, and we are really wanting to focus on children’s charities. I would love to find a way to involve your center and generate not just some cash flow for you, but more awareness of it.

Year one, we had 2 benefitting charities, selected because they had major personal meaning to us: The Walk to Prevent Suicide– Dave lost a brother a few years ago– and Yes! Utah: Organ donation; I have a nephew who received a liver transplant as an infant and has gone on to outlive every prognosis; he’s now 18 and attending BYU. In year 2, we hung on to the first but Yes! Utah wasn’t able to make it, and with staff and team obstacles, the charity emphasis wanedd, and I want to reverse that.

ANYWAY. . . We may be involving the Children’s Miracle Network this year (the info on that is being gathered as we speak, and it may be too late in the year for it), but there are many forms this could take, and I don’t even know if it’s the kind of thing that would interest you or work.

This message is already too long, and I have appts and phone calls right up to the time I’m running boys to football practices, but maybe we can get on the phone tomorrow or Saturday, or at the first of the week. This is my “insanity season,” leading up to the show, but you are no doubt overloaded with all the inspiring demands of the center! Give me a call sometime. 801.735.8972
    All the best,
    melanie henderson
