Brief Summary of your Start Up:
When I got married I realized that when we had children I would stay home with them.  This was very important to us as a couple.  I also wanted to run a home business to supplement our income, use as an outlet for my creativity, and where I could put my family first.  It was important for me to discover a business opportunity that I am passionate about and that I could pass onto my children as a family tradition.  It was the birth of my eldest daughter Emmeline (who we call Emi) and who we named the business after and my Cambodian culture of baby jewelry gift giving that my business dream was established.  With my husband’s help we run the business together.  We specialize in creating exquisite personalized bracelets for the stylish baby and fashion forward family.

Company Website?

www.babyemijewelry.com

What inspired you?
The birth of my daughter Emmeline (Emi) and my culture’s tradition of giving jewelry as a welcome baby gift (Cambodian).

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business for two years and launched our online boutique April 2006.

How did you fund it?
Personal finances.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)?
Yes!  My special Fairy Godfather – my sweet husband whose background is Accounting and Finances and my friend and business contact/partner Heather Ledeboer from Mom4Life.com.
Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups?
Yes, I network through forums such as MomsTown.com and Diaper Decisions.

Current Business Challenge?
Finances!

What are you doing about it?
Watching every penny we spend.  Making sure that we make wise decisions for our business because right now it is coming straight from our pockets.

Favorite motivational quote:
“If you want something you can’t just wish for it, you have to work for it.”

Family?
Albert – Handsome Husband
Emmeline (Emi) – 2 ½ Years
Chloe – 5 Months

If so, how do you balance family and business?
Oh…my goodness!!! It is extremely hard!  We launched our online boutique just a few weeks before my second daughter was born.  Learning to juggle my new role as mommy of two and an emerging business is very tricky.  But, I am determined to make it succeed by always putting my family first.

Without a doubt my girls!  They are my best creations!!!

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses?

Follow your dreams and don’t give up.  I know it sounds cliché but it is the simple truth when trying and doing something unfamiliar.  Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because one step back is like a step forward because you learn from your mistakes.

My husband!  He fixes all of my mistakes!  ☺
